Asian stocks watch BOJ Chairman Kuroda’s latest meeting

Asia-Pacific Exchanges were mixed on Thursday as the Bank of Japan began its two-day monetary policy meeting, and investors are watching for any policy changes that could accompany BOJ chief Haruhiko Kuroda’s latest meeting.

In Japan, Nikkei 225 rose 0.63% and Topix 0.94%. Kospi fell 0.15 percent and Kosdaq lost 1.16 percent. In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.1 percent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose partially in the first hour of trading. In mainland China, Shanghai Compound gained 0.081 percent and Shenzhen Compound lost 0.11 percent.

China’s consumer price index underincreased by 1 percent annually.

Key stock indexes were mixed overnight in the US as investors pared out stronger-than-expected economic data, sparking concerns about larger rate hikes after Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s congressional speech.
