Details of the “Half of Us in Urban Transformation” project have been announced
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the Half of Us in Urban Transformation project at the Turnkey and Groundbreaking Ceremony for Urban Transformation Projects.
The transformation, which will be realized according to the details of the announced project, needs to be done through TOKİ. The project is expected to be completed in five steps.
As a first step, the property owner has to apply for the project via e-government between April 26 and May 29.
After the application is made, the experts of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change will make a preliminary examination of the building to which the application is made and a discovery report will be prepared.
After the preparation of the report, a protocol will be prepared for the building, which has been agreed on a voluntary basis, and the project phase will be started.
After the completion of the project phase, the licensing process will begin.
Finally, with the evacuation of the building, the construction process to be started by TOKİ will be completed within 2 years at the latest, 10 thousand 500 TL of relocation and 5 thousand 250 TL of monthly rental assistance will be provided in this process.
According to the project, 750 thousand TL will be covered by the state for a 100 m² 2 + 1 flat, while the remaining amount will be 10 percent down payment and 10-year maturity with installments starting from 5 thousand 625 TL.
For the 120 m² 3+1 flat, 900 thousand TL will be covered by the state, while the remaining amount will be covered by the same 10 percent down payment and 10-year maturity with installments starting from 6 thousand 750 TL.
Transformation for 1 million 500 thousand residences in Istanbul
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum had previously announced that there were 1.5 million risky residences in Istanbul. According to the announced project, only citizens who want to transform their risky building can apply to the project so that no additional population will come to Istanbul.
In this context, it is envisaged to establish satellite cities on both sides of Istanbul for the transformation of risky residences. Of these cities, 500 thousand people will be on the European side and 500 thousand people will be on the Asian side.
In addition, 500 thousand residences will be converted on-site. It is stated that the project aims to transform 1 million 500 thousand houses and move 6 million people to safe houses.
While transforming the unhealthy housing in Istanbul, the buildings in the vacant areas will be demolished and new green and social reinforcement areas will be built. New assembly areas will be built.
