Emphasis on energy in the CBRT’s inflation assessment

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) pointed to the impact of energy prices on the slowdown in consumer inflation in April.

CBRT, which published its April Price Developments assessment, said, “Energy group prices decreased significantly due to the positive external price movements.”

The CBRT emphasized that food prices increased above the historical April trend, mainly led by red and white meat and processed meat products.

In the evaluation, it was stated that the monthly rate of increase in prices in the clothing and footwear group, where the new season transition is experienced, followed a moderate course due to the change in the method (the month of entry of summer products into the index from April to May).
