EU reserves vaccine production capacity for the future

The EU Commission announced that it has signed contracts with various vaccine companies to hold vaccine production capacity.

In the statement, it was stated that a network was established with companies that can rapidly produce vaccines that will be required in emergency situations, and that mRNA, vector and protein vaccine manufacturers Pfizer, Bilthoven Biologicals and Laboratorios Hipra are included in this network.

In the statement, it was pointed out that these companies are obliged to protect their facilities, personnel and supply chains for the capacity to produce 325 million doses of vaccine per year within the EU.

It was stated in the statement that the companies will start the vaccine production at the request of the EU Commission, and that the EU will provide 160 million Euros of financing to these manufacturers per year.

In the statement, it was pointed out that the reserved doses will be produced in Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain.
