Free natural gas usage principles are in the Official Gazette
The decision of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), which determines the principles of free natural gas use, was published in the Official Gazette.
With the relevant decree; Not collecting natural gas from the first invoice to be accrued from 24 April 2023 to 31 May 2023 for natural gas consumption from residential, places of worship and cemevi subscribers, and then for consumption up to 25 cubic meters in bills to be accrued for monthly natural gas consumptions for the period until 1 May 2024. It was decided not to collect the fee.
According to the decision, natural gas bills collected from subscribers will be canceled and money will be refunded within 3 days.
In his statement, EMRA Chairman Mustafa Yılmaz said, “The cost of using free natural gas was calculated as 40 billion liras.”
Yilmaz said:
“We have 19.7 million natural gas subscribers. The number of dwellings connected to the central system is 2.8 million. We have approximately 320 thousand prepaid subscribers. While determining the procedures and principles, we scrutinized them closely. We have made an arrangement covering all the necessary details so that no subscriber’s rights are lost. Distribution companies will also serve our citizens by showing the necessary sensitivity and care. Of course, we will follow the process closely. With the free usage provided by the Presidential regulations and the subsequent discount, approximately 40 billion TL will remain in the pockets of our citizens. ”
