Global airline passenger traffic increased in April

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released its market analysis, which includes global total passenger demand statistics for April.

Accordingly, strong demand for international air transport continued in April.

Toll passenger kilometers (RPK), which represents passenger traffic, increased by 45.8 percent in April compared to the same period last year. Thus, passenger revenue per kilometer in April reached 90.5 percent of the level before the Kovid-19 outbreak.

Passenger revenue per kilometer increased by 48 percent in international travels and 42.6 percent in domestic journeys in April compared to the same month of 2022.

In international travels, the Asia-Pacific region led the recovery in air traffic.

While Asia-Pacific airline traffic increased by 192.7 percent in April compared to the same period of the previous year, this increase was 22.6 percent and 38 percent, respectively, in Europe and the Middle East.

Airline growth was recorded as 34.8 percent in North America, 25.8 percent in Latin America and 53.5 percent in Africa during the said period.
