White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby answered journalists’ questions at the Foreign Press Center of the US Department of State.

We are grateful to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his leadership in the continuation of this initiative.” used.

Kirby said that they are grateful to the UN for its role in the agreement and underlined that the Black Sea Grain Initiative has benefited the whole world, especially the countries suffering from food insecurity caused by the Ukraine-Russia War.

Pointing out that it would be “unfortunate” for Russia to signal not to extend the duration of the agreement, Kirby stressed that they hope to extend the duration of the agreement and that they will continue to support the efforts of the UN and President Erdogan in this regard as necessary.
