How were housing rents affected after the earthquake?

The rising rent rates in cities that received immigration after the earthquake drew attention. Mersin drew attention as the province where rents increased the most in February due to the intensity of migration from the earthquake regions. Rents in the city increased by 15.15 percent. Thus, the annual rent increase increased to 227 percent.

Rental prices in Istanbul increased by 6.62 percent on a monthly basis in February, while the annual change was 152.94 percent. While the housing sales prices in the city increased by 6.13 percent on a monthly basis in the same period, this increase was 156.36 percent on an annual basis. The average sales price of the houses was 25,882 TL per square meter.

Rental prices in Ankara increased by 6.1 percent on a monthly basis in February, while the annual change was 187.06 percent. While the housing sales prices in the city increased by 6.39 percent on a monthly basis in the same period, this increase was 159.06 percent on an annual basis. The sales prices of the houses were realized as 12,194 TL per square meter on average.

In Antalya, where the annual rent increase change is 185 percent, it increased by 6.65 percent on a monthly basis in February. While housing sales prices in the city increased by 6.98 percent on a monthly basis in the same period, the increase was observed as 176 percent on an annual basis. Rental prices of residences in Antalya were recorded as 13 thousand liras per square meter.

Rental change in Muğla increased by 2.69 percent in February. In the city, where the annual rent change rate is 125 percent, the rental square meter price was 15 thousand 336 liras.
While the annual change in the sales prices of houses in Muğla was 123 percent, the monthly change in February was 5.42 percent.

Rental prices in Elazig increased by 5.12 percent on a monthly basis in February, and the annual change was 42.71 percent. While the housing sales prices in the city increased by 12 percent on a monthly basis in the same period, this increase was 124.25 percent on an annual basis. The sales prices of the houses were realized as 7.167 TL per square meter on average.

Rental prices in Kayseri increased by 2.70 percent on a monthly basis in February, and the annual change was 135.57 percent. Housing sales prices in the city increased by 5.41 percent on a monthly basis in the same period, while it was 114.09 percent on an annual basis. The sales prices of the houses were realized as 8,448 TL per square meter on average.
