India will become the most populous country in the world
The UN has announced that India will overtake China in the next two weeks to become the most populous country in the world. The census, which is held every 10 years in India, has been postponed to this year due to the Kovid-19 outbreak. India’s population is expected to reach 1.4 billion.

Experts state that the decrease in the population is caused by the “one child” policy implemented by China between 1979 and 2016, the high living and education costs, and the strict “zero Kovid” policy implemented in the last 3 years.
While families were allowed to have 2 children in 2016 and 3 in 2021, while incentives, tax cuts and better healthcare were introduced to increase the declining birth rate, the birth rate did not rise steadily. China’s long-held title of “the most populous country in the world” is expected to pass to India soon.
