İTO/Avdagiç: A 6-month CPI hike would be reasonable to the minimum wage.

Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) President Şekib Avdagiç expressed his expectation about the minimum wage.

In the Bloomberg HT broadcast he attended, Avdagic said, “The minimum wage in Turkey should be updated on the basis of Turkish Lira. This new figure should be created by taking into account the statistics and figures in Turkey. I think it is extremely inconvenient to update a minimum wage depending on the foreign currency and it is definitely not correct.”

Avdagiç said, “We foresee that it would be reasonable to make the minimum wage update at the beginning of the 7th month based on the CPI for the first 6 months. Accordingly, tax brackets should also be reviewed and there should be no additional tax burden on employees. All tax brackets should be updated in parallel with the minimum wage increase. very important,” he said.
