Siemens Energy received an order of 1 billion euros from Italy

Siemens Energy announced that it has received an order of 1 billion euros for the electricity grid from Italy.

In the statement made by the company, it was stated that the consortium formed by Siemens Energy with the Italian company FATA will supply four converter centers for the power line that will connect the Italian mainland to Sicily and from there to Sardinia with submarine cables.

The project also aims to shut down coal-fired power plants on the island in order to use renewable energy more efficiently, increase the stability of electricity grids and reduce carbon emissions.

The German company Siemens will manufacture the main components of the converter centers. At Italian FATA he will be responsible for civil works, electromechanical installation, construction of additional facilities and pre-commissioning support. The converter centers are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
