TBB President Çakar: Our meeting with Mr. Minister was very constructive

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek met with the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) management after the TÜSİAD meeting. After the meeting, which lasted for 2 and a half hours, he made a brief statement to the members of the press.

Minister Şimşek said:

”We came together with our bank executives, hosted by Alpaslan Çakar, President of the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB). We consulted with the Board of Directors of the Banks Association of Türkiye. In this period, we will consult with the financial sector, the business world, trade unions and all segments of society within the framework of the new program studies. Hopefully, we will continue on our way with a strong way in terms of investment, export, production and employment in our country and with a model that will increase the welfare of the society. This was a meeting we consulted. We talked about the Turkish economy and the banking sector.

Alpaslan Çakar, President of the Banks Association of Turkey (TBB), said that his meetings with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek were very constructive.

Stating that the structure of the finance sector is very strong, Çakar stated that they will support macroeconomic policies.

Çakar said, “It has been about 10 days since the government was formed. The Minister made one of the first meetings with the finance sector and the Board of the Banks Association of Turkey. In fact, we hold similar meetings with our ministers and authorities, the Central Bank and the BRSA from time to time. The problems of the sector, the developments in the global economy. We discuss it together. Today was also a very communicative, sincere meeting. The structure of the finance sector is very strong. We will be working together to support development and the finance sector. Every issue was discussed, both in terms of assets and liabilities of the banking sector, and they took their notes. “We know that it is the flagship of the banking sector in financing growth. That’s why it was very important to cooperate. This was the first step in this,” he said.
