The General Directorate of Turkish Employment Agency (Iskur) published the data in the Monthly Statistics Bulletin (May 2023).

Accordingly, the number of unemployed people registered with İşkur in May increased by 2.5 percent compared to April and reached 2 million 619 thousand 985 people. The number of registered unemployed increased in May to 64 thousand.

While 50.1% of the registered unemployed were male, 49.9% were female, 24.6% were in the 15-24 age group.

Registered unemployment fell 26 percent year-on-year

Looking at the annual data, there was a serious decrease in the number of registered unemployed.

According to the data of İşkur, the registered unemployment rate for men decreased by 27 percent and 24.4% for women on an annual basis. While the average decrease was 25.9 percent, the number of registered unemployed decreased from 1 million 728 thousand to 1 million 307 thousand for women, and from 1 million 809 thousand to 1 million 312 thousand for men.
