Vice President Yılmaz: New houses will be resistant to disasters

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, within the scope of his Kahramanmaraş visit, examined the TOKİ application area in Dulkadiroğlu district, toured the sample flat and received information from the authorities.

Yılmaz stated that they conducted an investigation on a TOKİ project, which was tendered and started to be built after the earthquake, and said that they built new houses with extreme resistance against disasters.

Stating that the structures in the construction site were built on solid ground, which is one of the best techniques against disasters, with the tunnel formwork method, Yılmaz said, “TOKİ had built more than 133 thousand houses in 11 provinces. TOKİ gave a good test in the earthquake, there was no loss of life in these houses, against earthquakes. “They have passed a good test. Hopefully, we will complete the structures here as soon as possible and assign them to the beneficiaries,” he said.

Yılmaz stated that new constructions will begin in new areas and noted that after the earthquake, approximately 850 thousand new units will be built, including 650 thousand residences and village houses, warehouses and barns.

“We will heal the wounds of the earthquake as soon as possible”

Stating that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been following the process closely since the first moment of the earthquake and made only six visits to Kahramanmaraş, Yılmaz said, “These are test times, when disasters are really tested as a nation. We have experienced many disasters in the past, we have healed the wounds of disasters together in Van, Malatya, Elazığ, Bingöl… Again, we have realized these in fires, floods, in the Mediterranean Region and in the Black Sea. We’ll wrap it up,” he said.

Yılmaz said that they continue to work on damaged infrastructures such as roads, sewerage and drinking water, while ensuring the transition from temporary housing and accommodation areas to permanent residences, and that they are in an effort to revive the economic life by recovering the tradesmen and industrialists, renewing the necessary areas and making new investments.

“We make every effort”

Saying, “Kahramanmaraş, our earthquake-affected regions will be among the safest regions of Turkey in the coming period,” Yılmaz said that as the projects are completed, he believes that the region will come to the fore as regions suitable for living and investing.

Yılmaz stated that they made every effort as the state and the government in this process, and that they stood by citizens, employees and the business world with budgetary opportunities, incentives and supports.

Emphasizing that they responded to the disaster of the century with the solidarity of the century, Yılmaz said, “I wish to experience the coming holidays together in a different way, having healed the wounds of the earthquake to a large extent.”
