Vivo increases production in Turkey by 20 percent

Chinese consumer electronics company Vivo, one of the top 5 best-selling smartphone brands in the world, is preparing for a new investment in Turkey. The company plans to increase its capacity by 20 percent and provide employment for an additional 100 people by commissioning the 4th production lines at the Gebze factory, which was put into service in 2021 with a total investment of 20 million dollars.

Vivo Turkey, which makes production in its facilities in Gebze, has increased the global production capacity of vivo to over 200 million units as the 8th production center after China, South and Southeast Asia.

Answering Bloomberg HT’s questions, Vivo Turkey CMO Ertan Şensoy said, “Vivo Turkey increased the active capacity of its production facility by 35 percent with the third production line commissioned at the end of 2022. Currently, more than 300 people are employed in production. In the second half of this year, we will start the production of 5G supported devices with our 4th production line investment. We aim for a 20% increase in production. With the new production line, additional employment opportunities will be provided to 100 people in production. We achieved an increase of more than 200 percent in our turnover in Turkey in 2022 compared to the previous year”.

Ted Dai, General Manager of Vivo Turkey, said, “Vivo carries out production with innovations such as the first under-screen fingerprint reader and the first pop-up camera. We have achieved a stable and successful growth momentum both in the world and in the Turkish market. In Turkey, we manufacture all our Y series models at the vivo Turkey factory. Turkey is a very important market for Vivo. We are planning our long-term and comprehensive investment in Turkey. We will continue to use our production facility at full capacity by implementing new production lines and to invest in supply chains.”
